Welcome to ESAA newsletter!

ESAA is a new umbrella organisation, launched in 2015. It brings together all European Union funded exchange students and alumni and offers a dynamic platform for networking, professional development and intercultural learning while promoting European Higher Education and worldwide cooperation. ESAA Working Group Meeting in Madrid

The first working group meeting took place in Madrid, Spain on October 30th to November 1st, 2015. Approximately 45 members met to reflect on the work done so far and plan the upcoming year. This meeting also aimed at exploring the possible synergies between the working groups, improve the working environment and brainstorm on new activities that Erasmus+ students and alumni can benefit from. Stay tuned, the next year will be full of great surprises and opportunities!

REALISE IT event in Berlin

At end of October, the representatives of the best start-up ideas selected from applications from all over the world were present at the REALISE IT event in Berlin. During 3 days they presented their projects, exchanged ideas, consulted with mentors and listened to inspiring speeches from influential guests in the start-up scene. The atmosphere of the event was really positive and all the participants were able to leave the event with new ideas for their projects and a lot of motivation to make them happen! Fill in the #ESNsurvey 2016!

The 11th edition of the ESNsurvey is out! The biggest Europe-wide voluntary-based research project aims to improve exchange programmes in Europe. The theme of this year’s edition is the international friendliness of universities. We hope to see as many students as possible fill in the questionnaire and help us continue to improve mobility in Europe!

Entrepreneur Network in EMA

Connecting and Nurturing Future Entrepreneur, Entrepreneur Network aims at building up an entrepreneurs community within EMA in order to motivate, advise and guide all those who are interested in becoming an entrepreneur. Currently, there are more than 20 established-entrepreneurs in various industries including internet, software, energy and retail among others.

Erasmus+ goes to Taiwan!

On October 25th, OCEANS with ESAA organised the first conference and capacity building workshop to promote the new ERASMUS+ programme in Taiwan. In 2015 as many as 141 staff and students will partake an exchange between Taiwan and EU, and it is expected to grow in 2016.

Working abroad in Europe: how and why?

On November 26th, gE4Tours organizes a conference in Tours, France, where professionals from mobility agencies will give presentations on opportunities of professional mobility. The first garagErasmus4Tours Meet-up will be organized within the Professional Integration Week, an annual event of the University of Tours.

Erasmus+ 1st Year Review

One year after the release of the new Erasmus+ programme, the European University Foundation and ESN have conducted an in-depth review of the strengths and weaknesses of the new programme. According to the review, some of the biggest strengths of Erasmus+ are its funding and its innovations, such as the online language courses. Weaknesses include cost-efficiency and credit recognition.

garagErasmus4Tuscany Welcome Day

​garagErasmus4Tuscany is an initiative that aims to make international students aware of their local environment and to promote the strengths and economic potential of the territory. This Welcome Day event gave the the chance to international students and researchers to discover what Pisa has to offer, make contacts and to find job opportunities.

Erasmus+ promotion in North America

​On October 23rd Alex Coffman, member of OCEANS set up a booth at West Virginia University in order to promote ESAA, OCEANS and Erasmus+ programs. The booth helped get the ESAA logo and word out on the new programs as well as forged a partnership with the WVU OIP office, who is excited to work with us again.

Study visit to Airbnb

The 20 lucky winners of the CMS Competition held last month had the opportunity to go on a study visit to the Airbnb HQ in Dublin, Ireland, where they got to learn how the company works, what do they look at when hiring and listen to the story of how the company became what it is today. More information about this and other ESAA CMS Competition winners coming soon in our website.




Social Inclusion & Equality Weekend

In the beginning of October, ESN Finland organised a training weekend aimed at providing their members and the international students the tools to organise events that will bring social impact and inclusion for minority groups within their community. "Explore Erasmus+ Lifestyle" event

With the support of ESAA, ESN BiH organised an event to promote Erasmus+ academic opportunities for 400 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina. They presented academic offers, former Erasmus students shared their experience and also discussed some tips for a successfull application.
