OCEANS at the EMA GA

On 23rd February 2019, Jungyoon Han represented OCEANS NETWORK at the General Assembly of the Erasmus Association along with ESN and garagErasmus representatives. This was a great opportunity to get newly joined members of EMA acquainted with the different partners in ESAA, as well as to encourage joint projects with other member organisations. OCEANS has successfully presented cases of collaboration between OCEANS and EMA in the past, and suggested different ways how two member organisations could further collaborate with each other and create synergies.

Jungyoon said, “Erasmus Mundus Association is one of the most important partners of OCEANS and we’ve had many successful projects in the past especially throughout partner countries of Erasmus+. We are looking forward to working together to further advance our mission and goals of our network.”

During the coffee breaks, EMA offered their famous ‘World café’ with various snack stands of different regions of the world which was organized by the members themselves. It felt like a great representation of one of the key elements of ESAA, a dynamic platform of worldwide cooperation.

ESN representation at the EMA GA

On 23rd February 2019, Patrícia Gonçalves from the Erasmus Student Network participated in the General Assembly of the Erasmus Mundus Association in Vienna. The General Assembly was an excellent opportunity to know more about EMA and its members. Together with members of Erasmus+ Students and Alumni Alliance such as the OCEANS network and GaragErasmus, and also the Marie Curie Association, we had the opportunity to present ESN to the participants of the GA. We were very glad to see the interest of the participants in the structure and the decision making process within ESN and even received calls to further establish collaboration in the future.

The day ended with an Awards Ceremony during which the EMA volunteers’ work were acknowledged and some guests gave inspiring speeches.

The General Assembly was a very productive event to further explore current and future areas of collaboration between ESAA members.

garagErasmus participated in the EMA General Assembly 2019

On 23rd February 2019, garagErasmus participated in the Annual General Assembly of the Erasmus Mundus Association in Vienna.

We were delighted to accept the invitation of our partner to join their important meeting to learn more about the way EMA works, its membership and activities. GaragErasmus’ participation at the event was possible thanks to the Erasmus+ Students and Alumni Alliance, of which EMA and gE are both founding members. Within the alliance, GE and EMA strive to create more and more bridges between the two organisations, so as to bring greater and more diversified benefits to all their members. It was for this purpose that Francesco Guerzoni, gE’s policy manager, presented our foundation at the EMA GA plenary along with its main activities and ESAA-funded projects (i.e. Laissez-Passer 2019). The feedback received and the contextual bilateral talks with EMA’s steering committee members leave no doubt that the future of the cooperation between our two allied organisations is looking bright.

Francesco said: “When I was at the EMA General Assembly, I immediately realized how important it is for our alumni networks to get in touch directly with each-other. Thanks to ESAA this is possible and we need to make full use of this opportunity. The community I found at the GA was energetic and vibrant (or I should say #EMAzing!) and it leaves me no doubt about the huge potential for joint activities between garagErasmus and EMA. In Vienna, we moved a step forward in this direction.”
