Alumni Platform for Erasmus Mundus ME3 Program

The Erasmus Mundus ME3 Program has created an alumni platform. The platform will provide a venue for current students and alumni of all generations to network and share knowledge.

On May 24, current students of the Erasmus Mundus program for Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy (ME3) officially launched a platform for the ME3 Alumni Association. Though the ME3 Alumni community has always been strong, it lacked a formal venue for alumni to strengthen their current connections and form new ones. Further, this platform will assist in generating interest in the ME3 program and providing information to prospective students. It will also enable alumni to network and share knowledge via features like member spotlights, profiles, webinars, calendars, and newsletters. In one week, nearly half of approximately 200 ME3 alumni and current students signed up as members.

This project was made possible thanks to a variety of different collaborators. First and foremost, ESAA provided the necessary funding for the actual website funding and launch. The project was also supported by a close collaboration with two of the ME3 partner universities, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and IMT Atlantique. ME3 coordinators at both universities assisted with publicity and general project support. Finally, the Alumni Association is also collaborating with EMANATE, which is a group of alumni from a similar program who share information about webinars, events, and interesting news in the field of energy and environment.

We fulfilled the objectives of our project which was to create a platform where past, current and future students of the program can connect and build a community. There have been meetups of second year students and alumni in Amsterdam and Berlin, with more planned for the future. First year students will be given a formal presentation on the alumni association during their annual Energy and Environment Conference which will allow us to reach the goal of 50% engagement of current students. During the annual kick-off meeting in Madrid, the website will be presented to administrators from the consortium of universities of the ME3 program to further define the partnership between the organizations.

This project directly supports ESAA's fourth cluster of Capacity Building. The project enabled and made it possible to develop a networking platform, knowledge exchange activities, and skill enhancement via the capabilities mentioned above. Further, the Alumni Association has already collaborated with other universities and entities and is looking forward to collaborating even more in the future!
