ESAA Project “Cross cultural understanding and Marginalized Erasmus international students in the COVID_19 Pandemic. A photovoice project”

The ESAA project “Cross cultural understanding and Marginalized Erasmus international students in the COVID_19 Pandemic. A photovoice project”, implemented by Tarynne Swarts encouraged international Erasmus students to submit photos of their mobility experience during the pandemic.

Tarynne Swarts

The photovoice project recruited Erasmus students located in different Erasmus + countries. Erasmus students could submit photos regarding their acculturative experiences as international students in different cultures in the current Covid_19 pandemic until 21 July 2021.

Individual interviews and focus groups will be hosted to interpret these photos and then will be coded and analysed by the researcher. The objective is to engage policy makers in Higher education to structure a new pathway of international mobility in the post pandemic era. The aim is to publish this paper in a research journal such as (Journal of international students or Journal of comparative and higher international education) and to host a photovoice installation with the photos submitted in an Art gallery as part of a cultural festival based on the acculturation themes from the photos. The project will also host a 5 episode podcast series engaging policy makers, administrators and the Erasmus community on the topic of Erasmus mobility in the COVID19 pandemic.
