ESAA supported the most cultural event of the course at ESN Spain

More than 1000 young people from all over the world were immersed in the cultural heritage of Barcelona during the Second National Event of the course.

During the weekend of 8th-10th March, the volunteers of Erasmus Student Network Barcelona celebrated the second National Event of Erasmus Student Network Spain in the capital of Catalan. More than 1,000 exchange students from all over the country spent three days discovering the city of Gaudi and the Catalan culture.

The event started on Friday, March, 8th with a Gymkhana focusing on women and history. The different games were related to several women, who were involved or led essential historical events all over the world, as well as to the culture and history of Catalan and Barcelona.

After this, all the participants were gathered at Plaça ​ del Mar to start a parade on the occasion of the​ International Women's day. They all marched from there until the end of Passeig Marítim with banners promoting equality and women's rights, as well as flags from all over the world.

On Saturday, ESN Barcelona volunteers showed the city to the participants by giving them tours which they had prepared for them. They visited Sagrada Familia and walked around Montjuic, the Bunkers and the Park Guell, Ciutat Vella and the Eixample.

Finally, on Sunday, they celebrated a Catalan calçotada at the campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and enjoyed one of the most typical items of their culture: the castellers.

Overall the participants were happy with the whole event and will have a wonderful memory of Barcelona and Barcino.
