During the weekend of 6th to 8th March, Seville hosted the Second National Event of the organisation Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Spain, partner organisation of Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Alliance (ESAA). ESN Spain is one of the 42 countries members of Erasmus Student Network, the biggest interdisciplinary organisation of voluntary students in Europe. We believe in the enrichment of society through international students. With this aim, ESN Spain organises three national events per year. This year, ESN Sevilla had the opportunity to organise one of these intercultural weekends that gathered more than 1,600 international students and local volunteers from different countries and backgrounds in a wide range of activities promoting the cultural understanding.

The event started on Friday 6th March with the visit to the residence for the elderly Manuel Ridruejo Muñoz, where a cross-generational activity with different workshops related to the Women’s Day took place. After this, the Erasmus Generation walked along Seville beginning in one of the landmarks of the city, Plaza España, to continue along the riverbank, promoting one of the values of ESN: Unity in Diversity, Diversity in the Unity. On Saturday, ESN Sevilla and ESN UPO volunteers showed the city to the participants through the tours they had prepared for them. They also visited some of the main monuments such as the Cathedral or the Real Alcázar. Finally, on Sunday, all the participants enjoyed homemade “paella”, performances and activities related to the Women’s Day.

In conclusion, the event met its objectives of promoting intercultural, cultural heritage and cross-generational understanding as well as raising awareness about health and active lifestyle.  This is reflected in our social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.
