Description of the project

Virtual Education Academy (VEA) is a program that focuses on training educators about technology and its use of classroom learning and teaching. The program adopts the theory of the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) learning framework that formulates a learning with the integration of technology and pedagogy into the taught material. There are two types of activities in this program, namely the provision of material directly through youtube and intensive mentoring in the form of a small whatsapp group consisting of an expert mentor and activity participants.  VEA is a collaborative activity of various organizations both local and international organizations such as ESAA Project EU, LPDP Teachers Association, Mata garuda Kalbar, Erasmus scholarship alumni, PGRI Kalbar, Universitas Sebelas Maret, ICEAR, BANK Kalbar, Yudha English Gallery, Openbook Publisher and International Literacy Association. In VEA 3, there are 300 ambassadors from 34 provinces and 179 volunteer mentors, lecturers and teachers from approximately 25 universities throughout Indonesia. All partners support and cooperate with each other to provide in-depth education to educators regarding the use of digital media for learning.

Success story

The theme raised in Virtual Education Academy program is the Multimodal Creative EBook Writing Workshop and Mentoring for Indonesian Teachers and Lecturers which was held for free and successfully collaborated with more than 5000 Indonesian teachers and lecturers as participants of the massive and active promotion of ambassadors and panitia teams on social media. In addition, this activity successfully guided participants to create more than 500 teaching books and multimodal free books in the form of Epub form.  These books are written by participants for a variety of purposes. As participants make books in the form of teaching books that can be used as a means of teaching in their classrooms and there are also those who use the opportunity to write this book as a search for credit numbers or assessment points that can be used as a means of promotion in institutions where participants serve.  Mentors who are the companion of this activity also get positive benefits because they have a platform to do community service that is the demand of activities at the institution where mentors serve.
This activity runs for approximately 4 to 5 months with a timeline that has been set by the committee. After participating in this activity, participants and mentors will join the VEA technology-proficient educator community in the telegram group as well as obtain certificates as virtual authors and 84 JP certificates from the EU and ISBN barcodes for participants' books.
