OCEANS Network Grows: Networking and Outreach in the USA

Taking place monthly from October 2019 to May 2020, this ESAA-project gave the chance to a new group in the DC area to thrive: Alumni who have studied abroad in Europe seeking to share their collective experiences while growing professionally– a project led by Richard Underwood.

The OCEANS Network, a partner organisation of the Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Alliance (ESAA), started a new community group in the Washington, DC area in the United States. Led by the national representative the project kicked off in a mission to expand with new members, provide awareness in the community on OCEANS and ESAA, and to help members of the community grow and network professionally.

The project took place monthly from October 2019 to May 2020 and even went to a virtual meeting platform after the pandemic hit. At each meeting members and newcomers enjoyed some light food and drinks, received free swag for promotions, networked, and gained some professional skills. Throughout the duration of the project the group was able to spread the word about OCEANS and ESAA to over 100 prospective new members in the area as well as team up with a new international education group to get the word out. Both experienced professionals and those just starting their career where able to exchange advice, ideas, and experiences while reflecting on their respective times in Europe and how it shaped them personally and professionally. This local community still plans to meet up and continue the meetings even after the projects end.
