The Golden Laissez-Passer competition is a project which rewards the best Erasmus Talent of the year with 3000€ to develop her or his innovative project. After the successful first edition, won by Konstantinos Maragkos who developed the project WE AfriHug in 6 African countries, the garagErasmus team worked on some important changes for the second edition.

The aim of the 2019th edition - developed thanks to the support of ESAA - has been to involve more people in more cities, especially through the Laissez-Passer tour and the cooperation with other international organizations. On February 8, we pre-launched the Golden Laissez-Passer project during one of the live events that took place in Brussels. We officially launched the project on February 22nd on all social media platforms. Further, we presented it on an event in Belgrade during which Serbia became a programme Country of Erasmus+.

During this contest, we organized 12 live events all around Europe. We had the occasion to present the project in many cities, such as Brussels, Belgrade, Vienna, Torino, Rome, Milano, Targu Mures, Poznań, Bordeaux, Madrid, Thessaloniki and Moscow. It was the first time we organized a European Tour as a way to promote the Golden Laissez-Passer and thanks to this, , we reached a total amount of around 850 participants in all events. The events were organized thanks to the cooperation with other ESAA member organizations and to the Universities that are foundation members of garagErasmus.

Within 2 months and 20 days of the contest, an overall of 600 applications could be registered, marking a significant increase compared to the previous edition that had 539 candidates in more than 7 months of competition.

On May 15, the voting for candidates on the online platform ended. On the 6th of June, the 6 finalists had their chance to present their project during the event hosted by the University of Malaga: many different ideas were brought on the stage! Orsolya Süligot was elected as the winner of the competition. The goal of her project is to tackle the climate impact of our everyday purchases and to develop a database compiling information on the environmental impact of a broad range of food products. It was elected as the best and will, therefore, benefit from a grant of 3000€. Orsolya will be able to use those resources in order to implement her idea.

Apart from the competition itself, the great added value of this edition was the capacity to bring together motivated people with innovative ideas, which will continue to represent the Erasmus Generation and its power to improve our world.
